A Lower Bound for Radio Broadcast

A radio network is a synchronous network of processors that communicate by transmitting messages to their neighbors, where a processor receives a message in a given step if and only if it is silent in this step and precisely one of its neighbors transmits. In this paper we prove the existence of a family of radius-2 networks on n vertices for which any broadcast schedule requires at least sZ(lo...

AN Ω(D log(N/D)) LOWER BOUND FOR BROADCAST IN RADIO NETWORKS∗

We show that for any randomized broadcast protocol for radio networks, there exists a network in which the expected time to broadcast a message is Ω(D log(N/D)), where D is the diameter of the network and N is the number of nodes. This implies a tight lower bound of Ω(D logN) for any D ≤ N, where ε > 0 is any constant.

Improved lower bound for deterministic broadcasting in radio networks

We consider the problem of deterministic broadcasting in radio networks when the nodes have limited knowledge about the topology of the network. We show that for every deterministic broadcasting protocol there exists a network, of radius 2, for which the protocol takes

A New Lower Bound for Completion Time Distribution Function of Stochastic PERT Networks

In this paper, a new method for developing a lower bound on exact completion time distribution function of stochastic PERT networks is provided that is based on simplifying the structure of this type of network. The designed mechanism simplifies network structure by arc duplication so that network distribution function can be calculated only with convolution and multiplication. The selection of...

A lower bound for ...

Let A and B be two finite subsets of a field F. In this paper we provide a nontrivial lower bound for |{a + b: a ∈ A, b ∈ B, and P (a, b) 6= 0}| where P (x, y) ∈ F[x, y].
